Applications for SkillsActive and Nancy Ovens Bursary now open

SkillsActive – the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning – in partnership with the Nancy Ovens Trust, is now taking applications for its annually awarded SkillsActive and Nancy Ovens Bursary.

Now in its fifth year, the SkillsActive and Nancy Ovens Bursary is for paid and un-paid individuals working within the sport, fitness, playwork, outdoors and caravan sectors who wish to improve their skills through an innovative training programme – one which is perhaps outside the scope of regular training.

The Bursary, worth up to £2,000, has been developed to provide people with the opportunity to take advantage of the wealth of potential learning opportunities within the active leisure and learning sector – both in the UK and EU.

Applicants are expected to create their own training experience, allowing them to develop new and improved skills, which they can then apply within their current or future roles in the sector.

To learn more about the SkillsActive and Nancy Ovens Bursary or to download the guidance and application form, please visit www.skillsactive.com/projects/nancy_ovens_bursary. Applications close 7 May 2010.
